Farali pattice (non fast version)

This is normally prepared during fasting. As it is filling this is good option during fasting. I always wanted to try it and what better season than shravan.

However once i got to make it realised I didn't have arrowroot powder or rajgira flour for binding. Since I am not fasting it was okay to try this option.

For people who are fasting you can use arrowroot powder for binding and coating.

Ingredients

For covering
Potatoes - 5 big
Cornflour to bind
Salt

For stuffing
Coconut - 1 cup packed
Crushed peanuts - 2 tbsp
Ginger chillies paste - 2 tsp
Lime juice - 1 tsp
Salt and sugar
Saunf - 1 tbsp

Bread crumbs - for coating before frying
Oil - for frying

Method
1) For the covering first boil the potatoes. Put water in cooker and place the potatoes in a separate bowl without water and pressure cook and peel and keep.

2) Add cornflour , mash the potatoes and salt and make the covering paste and cling wrap and keep in fridge.

3) Add all ingredients for stuffing and keep ready.

4) Put pieces of bread on pan and roast on low flame. When crispy shut flame and cool. Then powder it in the mixer.

5) To make the pattice , take a big round of potato paste in your hand , make into a shape of deep bowl , put filling and bring together from the sides. Give the shape of flat pattice.

6) On a pan add little oil, coat the pattice with breadcrumbs and place on pan.

7) Roast on both sides and serve hot.

Notes:
a) Dont add water while cooking potatoes. It becomes a slurry mess and any amount of corn flour will not give it shape.
b) Be careful while adding salt as this is a sweet pattice. Also there is salt in covering and filling.
