Masoor sabzi

This is a very delicious recipe learnt from my MIL.

Ingredients
Akha masoor whole -3/4 cup (Soaked overnight)
Onions - 1/2 cup (chopped)
Coconut - 1/2 cup
Cloves -3/4
Cinnamon - 2" piece
Potato - 1/2 cup
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp (adjust as per spice)
Tamarind extract - 1/2 tsp
Jaggery - a small piece
Oil
Salt

Method:

1) Soak the masoor overnight. Also one hour in luke warm water should be okay of to be made urgently.
2) In a pan add oil then cloves, cinnamon, onion, coconut and fry well.
3) Make a paste of this with coriander powder, red chilli powder, tamarind and jaggery.
4) In the meanwhile cook the masoor and potato with tumeric powder. Just one or two whistles or else it will get mushy.
5) In a pan add lil oil add the masala and cook for a while.
6) Add the cooked masoor and potato. Mix well and let it boil for a 5/7 minutes more.
7) Mix well and add coriander leaves and serve hot.
