Chole is a gravy dish made with chickpeas. A simple combination of onion, tomatoes, spices makes a yummy dish to be had with Paratha/chapati or dal-rice.
Ingredients
Chole dana/kabuli chana - 1 cup soaked overnight
Potato - 1
Onions - 2
Tomatoes - 2
Ginger - 1 " piece
Garlic - 5 cloves
Cloves -3
Chole masala - 1&1/2 tbsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp or as per spiceness
Tumeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt as per taste
Oil - 3 tbsp
Method
1) Grind together onion, garlic, tomatoes, ginger into a fine puree.
2) In a pan add oil add the puree and let it cook. It has to cook till the raw smell of the garlic and onions go away.
3) In a pressure cooker cook the white kabuli chana with cloves. Also put the potato to cook with the chana.
4) Once the gravy looses raw smell add the spices and salt and cook for a few minutes more.
5) Once this gravy starts leaving out some oil , add the cooked chole dana, sliced potato check salt and consistency. Can add some water. Bring to a boil.
6) Serve garnished with onions and coriander leaves accompanied with rice , chapati ,puri or bhatura.
